Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers recognize times are tough.
As part of June Dairy Month, farmers are giving away free milk to central Pennsylvania families in need. The giveaway is being made possible through Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, a government-funded grants made available to food banks and community organizations.
The milk will be distributed during several scheduled drive-thru events from June 29 to July 1.
The American Dairy Association North East is working with Harrisburg Dairies, Cocoa Packs and Harrisburg Area School District to facilitate the distribution of more than 4,000 gallons of milk.
Each family will be limited to two gallons of milk, while supplies last. Drivers and passengers are urged to remain inside their vehicles and will be prompted to open their trunks or car windows to receive the milk.
The milk will be distributed at the following locations:
Cocoa Packs /Hershey Middle School - 500 Homestead Road in Hershey, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on June 29.
Falcon Packs /Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church - 100 W. Main St. in Hummelstown, from 10:30 a.m. -noon and 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on June 29.
Middletown Area School District - 215 Oberlin Road in Middletown, 11 a.m. on June 29.
John Harris High School - 2451 Market St. in Harrisburg, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 30.
Foose Elementary School - 1301 Sycamore St. in Harrisburg, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 30.
Palmyra Area School District – 1125 Park Drive in Palmyra, from 3-4:30 p.m. July 1.
