Nashville Beer Board: You can get beer delivered to your home through October - Tennessean

Nashvillians enjoying the ability to order beer straight to their door during the COVID-19 pandemic have a reason to celebrate.

The Metro Nashville Beer Board voted unanimously Wednesday to extend an emergency regulation that allows some businesses to sell beer for delivery and curbside pickup through at least Oct. 31.

The beer board initially passed the regulation allowing curbside and delivery in March after the economic impact of dine-in service shutdowns at restaurants and bars put some businesses at risk of permanent closure. Curbside and delivery beer options offered an alternative stream of revenue to help lessen the impact of health precautions on Nashville's restaurant and brewing industry.

The emergency regulation was set to expire July 31, but was extended as the city continues to grapple with hot spots and attempts to stifle rising case numbers.

Officials reverted back to a modified phase two of Nashville's reopening plan in early July as COVID-19 cases rose to record-breaking levels, tightening dine-in capacity restrictions on restaurants and shutting down Nashville bars for the second time this year.

The city has seen glimmers of improvement this week, but Dr. Alex Jahangir, head of Nashville's coronavirus task force, cautioned Tuesday that Nashville is "still deep in the woods" and Nashvillians "cannot declare victory yet."

Nashville Mayor John Cooper said Tuesday that the modified phase two restrictions will remain in place until at least Aug. 16.

The emergency regulation allows employees of on-premise beer sellers who are age 21 and older to deliver commercially sealed beer to homes in Nashville. Customers must still show identification, and the seller is still liable for sales to underage or drunk customers.

Businesses with on-premise beer permits must also apply for a temporary "on and off-premise" permit through beerboard@nashville.gov. The application fee has been waived.
