"Cook one, drink two — you’re guaranteed a good night."
Beer is usually for drinking, but pouring beer for cooking is part of the marketing campaign for Oskar Blues Brewery's new 15-pack package.
The brewery, which brews in Colorado, Texas and North Carolina, is releasing a video recipe on its website and other social media channels for each of the five beers in the 15-pack. The pack contains the brewery's flagship, Dale's Pale Ale; a pilsner, Mama's Little Yella Pils, and three IPAs, One-y, G'Knight and Can-O-Bliss.

Oskar Blues BreweryThree recipes — for G'Knight, Mama's Little Yella Pils and Dale's Pale Ale — have been posted, and two more will follow. G'Knight is a marinating ingredient in the video recipe for G'Knight brown sugar T-bone steak, and Mama's Little Yella Pils is a marinating ingredient in the video recipe for Mama's beef jerky. Dale's Pale Ale is mixed with mozzarella, red onion and basil in stuffed pizza bread.
The brewery explains on its website why G'Knight works well for T-bone chefs.
"G’Knight imperial red IPA has always been big, red and sticky," Oskar Blues says. "The stickiness of this old-school West Coast IPA makes it the perfect base for a sugary sweet marinade and glaze on a big-ass, bone-in steak. The hops from 12 ounces of G’Knight shine through and are balanced by salty soy sauce, savory garlic and a touch of heat from red pepper flakes. Caramelization is your friend."
Similarly, Oskar Blues explains why Mama's Little Yella Pils enhances the marinade for beef jerky made with flank steak.
"The light, crisp taste of this Bohemian pilsner balances a bold spice mix to make a marinade that packs a punch," the brewery says. "Cooking low and slow is the name of the game here. A little bit of sweet, a little bit of heat and a whole lot of flavor."
The 15-pack of cans is in line with Oskar Blues startup 23 years ago. The brewery spawned a can revolution in the craft beer industry — an industry formerly dominated by bottled beers — when the Colorado brewery introduced Dale's Pale Ale in 12-ounce cans in 2002. It since has put its beer in 19.2-ounce and 32-ounce cans.
In 2015, Oskar Blues joined with Perrin Brewing, Cigar City Brewing, Squatters Craft Beers and Wasatch Brewery to form CANarchy, a brewery collective. Three years later, Texas-based Deep Ellum Brewing and California-based Three Weavers Brewing joined the collective which sells the breweries' beers in all USA states and 17 countries.
