Residents interested in historical architecture and wine may want to keep their schedules open Wednesday evening for a wine reception and tour inside one of East Capitol Avenue’s historic homes.
Historic City of Jefferson is hosting the event 5:15-6:45 p.m. at 810 E. Capitol Ave. in Jefferson City.
Homeowner Jim Kreider will be presented with the July Golden Hammer in recognition of work he did to rehabilitate and save the historic home. The award presentation will begin at 6 p.m.
The Golden Hammer Award recognizes people in Jefferson City who are restoring historic structures at least 50 years old, preserving them for years to come and showing pride the community has for its past.
The event is open to the public.
Kreider is requesting that attendees of the wine reception make a donation to Historic City of Jefferson. No donation is required to attend just the award ceremony.
All attendees are asked to wear a face mask and maintain social-distancing guidelines. According to the Facebook event, the reception will be hosted “quarantine style” using single-use cups and cheese and crackers in individually wrapped packets.
