DULUTH, MN. -- Local breweries and cideries are teaming up with Girl Scouts to turn your favorite cookie, into a beer or cider.

Girl Scout cookie season is coming a couple of months early to the Northland as breweries and cideries brewed up with new flavors, all for a good cause.

"We want to spend time lifting up each individual but also groups that are working with young girls and women," said Pepin Young, Director of Taproom and Retail Operations at Bent Paddle Brewing.

Places such as Bent Paddle, Duluth Cider, Fitgers, and more have partnered up with the Girl Scouts Lakes and Pines of northern and central Minnesota and Wisconsin for cookies on tap.

"For every crowler we sold, $5 directly to the Girl Scouts, and for every growler we sold, $5 directly to the Girl Scouts and then for every pint we sold a $1 directly to the Girl Scouts. That made us really excited because we knew that we were going to see a great return for them on that," said Young.

With flavor inspiration from Thin Mints, to Caramel DeLites, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

"The beers themselves have been some of our best selling taproom exclusive beers," said Young.

For Bent Paddle, in particular, they put a Peanut Butter Patty Black Ale on tap, the first peanut butter flavored ale for them.

"What we ended up with was kind of the perfect storm for folks and for that beer to go quickly," said Young.

Young tells us they made four to five kegs of the chocolate Peanut Butter Ale, and it was one of the fastest moving beers out of their taproom to date.

"This time we had just an absolutely just wild reception for it and we actually sold out of it within the first 24 hours of having that beer on," said Young.

Young adds that another chocolate Peanut Butter beer needs to be brewed thanks to how fast this one went off the shelves, but no timetable has been put on a release date.
