Geddes, N.Y. — Another drive-through food and milk giveaway is set for Tuesday for the New York State Fair grounds, part of a program helping families in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 8,000 gallons of milk and 85,000 lbs of food will be given away for free. That will include produce, meat and other dairy products.
Each vehicle will get two gallons of milk and 20 lbs of food, according to a news release.
The drive-through giveaway begins at 11 a.m. No registration or paperwork is required.
Drivers and passengers must remain in their vehicle and will be asked to open their trunk or back window to receive the groceries. No walk-ups are permitted.
The last giveaway from the American Dairy Association North East here happened in mid-July at the Abundant Life Christian Center in East Syracuse, when 4,200 gallons of milk were given free to families who needed them.
The upcoming event is part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. The dairy association helped provide milk and organize the event, along with Dairy Farmers of America, Renzi Foodservice, the fairgrounds and other community organizations.
