Once again, Wiley Roots Brewing Company is taking beer in a unique direction.
The Greeley brewery announced this week that it has created beer-infused soft-serve ice cream that became available this past Friday.
Ice Cream Truckz: Queen Whip is made from beer produced with pureed strawberry, caramel, marshmallow, vanilla and milk sugar that is processed through an ice cream machine creating a whole different way to enjoy beer.
“We know serving beer from an ice cream machine may appear gimmicky, but for it it’s much more than that,” Scott Davidson, marketing manager said. “It’s about making beer fun again and welcoming new beer drinkers.”
This isn’t the brewery’s first venture into beer-infused sweet treats.
Two years ago, founders Kyle and Miranda Carbaugh and their crew fiddled with creating Colorado’s first frozen sour beer slushie. The experiment was a hit, and since then the brewery has released cans of Slush for customers to take home to make their own slushies, as well as offering frozen slushies onsite.
“Since introducing the slushie machine two years ago, we have heard from a growing number of customers that they are now fans of the brewery because of these beers,” Davidson explained. “While some folks get downright angry about what ‘is and is not’ beer, we decided a long time ago to focus on what made people happy and to make beer that people loved to drink.
“I mean, at the end of the day, that’s what enjoying beer is all about,” he added.
In addition to the ice cream, the brewery is releasing four new beers — Ice Cream Truckz: Camarostang, Ice Cream Truckz: Queen Whip, A Visit from the Fruit Lady: Banana Orange Passion Fruit and A Visit from the Fruit Lady: Blackberry Pomegranate Raspberry.
Ice Cream Truckz: Camarostang and Ice Cream Truckz: Queen Whip are smoothie-style unpasteurized pastry sour ales. Camarostang combines pureed raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow and milk sugar while Queen Whip uses pureed strawberry, caramel, marshmallow, vanilla and milk sugar for its recipe.
Both A Visit from the Fruit Lady beers are smoothie-style unpasteurized fruited sour ales that utilize fresh fruit such as bananas, oranges, blackberries and pomegranate to make each unconventional beer.
Customers interested in trying out the new beers can order cans at www.wileyroots.com to be picked up at the brewery located at 625 3rd St., Unit D.
Ice cream and slushies can be purchased onsite at the brewery as well.
The brewery is open from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
