Impact Reveals Its Latest Roster Of “Hot Prospect” Wine Brands

September 18, 2020

Impact has unveiled its annual list of “Hot Prospects” for the wine category. This year’s domestic wine Hot Prospects list is dominated by California, with 30 out of the 34 total brands coming from the Golden State. Among the newcomers, California is also most prevalent. Some 15 labels out of the 17 new entrants hail from California, with Washington accounting for the remaining two.

To qualify as Hot Prospects, brands must have achieved at least 15% depletions growth for 2019, while also showing consistent growth in the two preceding years. Brand volumes must be between 50,000 and 250,000 cases for domestic wines, while imports are between 50,000 and 200,000 cases.

Domestic wine Hot Prospects above the 100,000-case mark include Ava Grace, Gruet, 7 Moons, Z. Alexander Brown, Proverb, Josh Cellars Reserve, Imagery Estates, 1924, Sutter Home Rosé, Beringer Bros., Crafters Union, and Raeburn.

Turnover is the theme of the Hot Prospects imported wine list, with eight new arrivals included among the 16 awardees this year. France led the pack with seven wines, followed by Italy with five entrants, as imported rosés and sparklers continue to connect with consumers.

Imported wine Hot Prospects above 100,000 cases include Veuve du Vernay, Provisions, Cavaliere d’Oro, Yes Way Rosé, Gemma di Luna, Campo Viejo Cava, and The Palm by Whispering Angel.

The full Hot Prospects wine list, along with data and analysis, appears in the September 1&15 issue of Impact. Click here to subscribe.
