PICK OF THE WEEK - The Blue Collar Wine Guy - seattlepi.com

Fall is upon us, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up on Rose’. I know it is considered a summertime wine by many. However, as each year goes by, it seems as if that group is fading away and more wine drinkers continue to consume Rose’ throughout the year. Sparkling Rose’ is a perfect complement with the Thanksgiving meal, which is not that far away. This little gem from Argentina, not only delivers quality, it is a fantastic value.

Domaine Bousquet is nestled in the foot of the Andes with vineyards at 4,000 ft elevation. They grow all their fruit organically. I first discovered their red blend which became my “Pick Of The Month” at the store a few months ago and it was well-received. I have since tried their Pinot Grigio, unoaked Chardonnay and now this sparkling Rose’ made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. It garnered a 90 point score from a well-known critic and I happen to agree, making it my pick for this week.

Non-Vintage Domaine Bousquet Sparkling Brut Rose’ Tupungato Uco Valley (Mendoza, Argentina)… $12.

Perfumed, expressive aromas of Strawberries and cherries with underlying watermelon, orange citrus and melon. There is a nice richness on the palate with good acidity that keeps in linear. Notes of ripe strawberries and cherries with a splash of orange citrus. It expands on the mid-palate with a hint of watermelon coming through. It stays crisp and dry into the strawberry, cherry driven finish with a kiss of orange citrus that lingers. 75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay. 100% organically grown grapes  (B+/A-)

Distributed by Unique Wine Company (Renton, WA)

Cheers!
