KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – A veteran owned brewery in Kannapolis is giving back to one of their own.
For months, W.A.R Beer, that stands for Warriors Always Rise, has been sold at Old Armor Beer Company.
Beer sales, totaling $6,500, will go to U.S. Army veteran Drew Mullee and his family. Mullee lost his leg in an injury accident in 2012 while deployed in Afghanistan. He had stepped on an IED.
“I’m walking around in a prosthetic, and for part of the day, you know, it hurts you want to sit in a wheel chair and kind of do that. So with three kids and all that, we have a doorway in the back that has a step so you can’t use that, and that’s part of the issue" says Mullee.
The money raised will go towards home improvement, which includes creating a ramp to enter and exit the family home, as well as expand doorways for wheelchair access.
