Grapevines across the state have done their job. Stripped of grapes, their leaves will soon begin to give up their green hues for gold. Harvest is in full swing, and despite all the commotion, Oregon’s wineries still figure out ways to celebrate. Here are seven opportunities to join in the fun.

Leaf Peeping at Harris Bridge Vineyard
Looking for the perfect spot to sip wine and watch leaves trade in their colors? Located at the end of a gravel road just outside Wren, Harris Bridge Vineyard is deep in the woods. Marys River gurgles peacefully beside the vineyard as a 91-year old covered bridge stands guard. The winery specializes in dessert wines and aperitifs that are guaranteed to keep you warm as flaming orange-colored leaves fall to your feet.

Virtual Drag Queen Bingo with Hip Chicks Do Wine
A $10 ticket gets you a wild hour of Bingo and prizes with legendary drag artist Poison Waters and friends. The virtual Zoom festivities are hosted by Hip Chicks Do Wine, an urban winery with attitude.
Want to play for free? Buy four bottles of wine from the Hip Chicks for free home delivery. Be sure to use the word “BINGO” in the ordering notes. Wine orders must be placed by Oct. 9. Zoom and Bingo card links will be emailed out 24 hours before the event.

Wine-ing for Literacy Fundraiser
First Book Portland joins forces with Sunday School Wine to buy new books for local children in need. A suggested $15 donation buys you a ticket to their online fundraiser, which includes speakers, raffle and guided wine tasting.
To participate in the optional wine tasting, orders for a three-pack of wine must be placed with Sunday School Wine by Oct. 10. Local delivery is available. Wine class and raffle tickets must be purchased by Oct. 21.

Single Vineyard Pinot Noir vs. Blends at Coelho Winery
Do you prefer a blend or a wine made with grapes from a single vineyard? Does blending provide a more complete wine? Coelho Winery will help you find out with samples of three single-vineyard pinots and two reserve blends from their 2017 vintage. Tickets are $50 each.

Global Pinot at SE Wine Collective
Tom Monroe and Kate Norris of Division Winemaking Co. recently launched a two-tiered tasting program called “Harvest Experience.” It allows groups of 2-10 people to take over the Southeast Wine Collective facilities for a private tasting amid harvest action.
The 60-minute experience features three wines and is $36 per person. The 90-minute enhanced experience is $50, with six wines poured. Both tiers include light appetizers. Bookings will be available via the Tock website at 2, 4 and 6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday through Nov. 14th.
Each enhanced harvest experience has a theme to accompany an in-depth harvest tour of the winery. I highly recommend the enhanced Global Pinot tasting at the end of October. This is an opportunity to sample examples of pinot noir from other regions that inspire Norris and Monroe.

Last Friday at Campbell Lane Winery
Campbell Lane Winery offers a secluded spot high atop Pete’s Mountain to sip wine under the stars. Campbell Lane’s last Friday program also offers live music and food for purchase to complement the beautiful view. October features singer Naomi LaViolette and food prepared by Right Bayou Cajun Cuisine.
This is a 21+event, and no pets are allowed. There is no cover charge, but reservations are required. Barring a medical dietary restriction, outside food is not permitted.

Halloween at Brooks Winery
The Brooks team is offering zero tricks at their winery this Halloween. Their full wine and food menu is available, including a few All Hallows Eve-themed food specials. Be sure to wear a costume as prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Reservations are required.
