CHINA TO IMPOSE TEMPORARY TARIFFS ON AUSTRALIAN WINE IMPORTS
(CNN) – China says it will implement “temporary anti-dumping measures” on Australian wine imports starting Saturday.
China’s Ministry of Commerce said that preliminary findings of an investigation into Australian wines showed “that there is dumping of imported wines originating in Australia, causing material damage to the domestic wine industry in China.”
The measure will be done in the form of deposits ranging from 107% to 212%.
Australia’s Minister for Agriculture expressed “extreme disappointment” in China’s decision.
The move by China is the latest of building tensions between the two countries.
It comes after Australia was among the first countries to call for an official investigation into COVID-19’s origins.
