Hailing from Broomfield, Colorado (a northwestern suburb of Denver), 4 Noses Brewing is a family-owned brewery that offers a whopping TWENTY beers on tap. It doesn’t look like their brews leave Colorado often, so it’s a real treat to find them here in Illinois.

I was able to snag a can of their Flatiron Fog, a hazy IPA brewed with Centennial and Citra hops. The beer was inspired by the “mystical fog that looms around [their] iconic Flatirons” and features a nice 6.5% ABV. A four-pack of 16-ounce cans costs $14. My pint was canned on April 9th, 2021 and this was written on June 8th.

Flatiron Fog poured a very cloudy, pale orange color. There was very minimal head topping the beer, as the bright white foam never even reached a finger in height. After just a second or two, the bubbles were relegated to a small collection around the edge of the glass.

On the nose this beer was a juice bomb! It had massive tropical fruit notes - orange, mango, and pineapple led the way. But there were also hints of lemon, grapefruit, and a slight grassy undertone to it.

My first sip began with a slightly creamier mouthfeel while still having a thinner, more watery body. There was a very low hum of hoppy bitterness before the fruit flavors really began to swell up.

Leading the way was a slightly acidic pineapple with some orange peel and lemon following close behind. The lemon also added a light tart aspect to the brew. The mango, sadly, was all but hidden in the taste but still remained in the aroma.

Midway through, there was a mixture of grapefruit rind and grassy/floral notes that brought forward a bitter, resinous feeling that sat at the back of my tongue for a few moments.

There was one final push from the juicier aspects of the beer; a wave of tangerine and pineapple crashed across my taste buds and finished off the beer.

Flatiron Fog ended mostly clean. There was a small sticky feeling and some dryness but, overall, it was a very easy finish.

The pops of tropical fruit juice and the clean finish made this a crushable hazy IPA. The 6.5% ABV was never noticeable and kept the beer on the lighter side.

4 Noses crushed it with this one. I wish the bitter bite was less noticeable and that the mango was more apparent in the taste but, even so, this was a very sessionable, perfect all-day sipper.
