Currently the only Virginia brewer to participate, Intermission will release its Curtain Up beer, a hazy IPA containing Citra and Cascade hops, June 26 at 2 p.m. It will be available on tap and in cans to-go.
Intermission, located at 10089 Brook Road in Glen Allen, will donate proceeds from the Curtain Up beer to The Actors Fund as well as the Theatre Artists Fund of Greater Richmond to ensure the community directly benefits from the project.
“We would love more Virginia breweries to join us in this cause. Our background is in theater and we know how much this has directly affected our arts community and friends,” said Courtney White, owner of Intermission Beer Company. With the announcement of Broadway possibly getting back to work in September and local Richmond theaters announcing their new seasons, arts workers face another few months of unemployment and insecurity after having been out of work for at least a year and a half before the restart will begin.
The Curtain Up Beer Project was founded by two Broadway actors, Mark Aldrich (Newsies, My Fair Lady, Ragtime) and Jimmy Ludwig (Spamalot, Little Shop of Horrors), who partnered with the Bronx’s award-winning brewery, Gun Hill Brewing Company.
