What do Wisconsinites like more than beer? Free beer. And that's what a Milwaukee craft brewery is working on giving teachers this summer.
Third Space Brewing customers can "buy a beer" for a teacher in person or online. Each beer purchased will go into a "beer fund," according to a news release.
The brewery itself will match every beer purchased for the fund through June 11, but customers can continue contributing to the fund through the summer.
Starting June 11, teachers can redeem one free pint each day they visit the taproom, 1505 W. St. Paul Ave., as long as there are beers available in the fund.
The wives of Third Space co-founders and longtime friends Andy Gehl and Kevin Wright are teachers, the news release noted.
“We know firsthand how hard our teachers have worked this past year, and we wanted to do something fun to support them this summer," Wright said in the news release.
"This year, we really wanted to do something special for them because it has been such a challenging year from virtual school to hybrid school, to putting themselves at risk in the classroom," Gehl said in the news release.
To redeem a beer from the fund, teachers need to show a teacher ID or other documentation proving they are a teacher. Teachers will be able to pick any $6 or $7 pint, according to the website.
The program will run through Aug. 31, as long as it's funded.
